After graduating from OSU, Chao Chen Mai earned a doctorate from Utah State University in 1968. He spent the early part of his career with Mostek Corporation, rising to the position of vice president of Process Research and Development. In 1984, he joined Dallas Semiconductor and was appointed as vice president for Manufacturing in 1985 and vice president for Wafer Fabrication and Technology Development in 1988. Chao Chen was named senior vice president in 1993 and was elected president and CEO in November 2000. Dallas Semiconductor became a wholly owned subsidiary of Maxim Integrated Products in 2001, and Chao Chen retired in 2004. He has served for several years on the executive board of Southern Methodist University’s School of Engineering.
